Audit Career Path

Entry-level auditors begin their journey at the GS-7 or GS-9 grade level and complete a formal 2-3 year developmental training program and are promoted one-grade level each year of successful performance (GS-7, GS-9, GS-11, and GS-12).

After a successful year at the GS-12 grade level, they become eligible to compete for GS-13 positions throughout AFAA. Key opportunities are available at Wright-Patterson AFB (Ohio), Joint Base San Antonio – Randolph (Texas), and the National Capital Region (Washington, DC).

Additionally, auditors who join AFAA at the GS-13 grade are encouraged to showcase their skills and abilities to become eligible to compete for GS-14 positions within the organization after a successful year of performance at the GS-13 level. This advancement embodies AFAA’s dedication to fostering professional growth and rewarding auditors for their commitment and contributions to the agency.
